Dr. Peter R. Ramig, Ph.D., CCC-SLP Peter R. Ramig

Dr. Peter Ramig has devoted more than 33 years of his life to treating children and adults who stutter. After making significant changes in managing his own stuttering in his mid-twenties, he earned his MA from the University of Wisconsin and his Ph.D. from Purdue University in the field of Speech-Language Pathology with a specialty in fluency disorders. Since then, for the past 28 years, he has worked as a professor at the University of Colorado where he has conducted research and treatment in the area of stuttering. In addition, he has directed private clinics with his associates, certified speech-language pathologists, most of whom he helped train as graduate students prior to earning their MA at the University of Colorado. His associates are hand-picked, caring, knowlegeable professionals with expertise in the treatment of stuttering.

Dr. Ramig holds the honor of Fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and he is a Board Recognized Fluency Specialist through the same professional organization. He is known nationally and internationally for his work in stuttering. He has published numerous articles on the topic of stuttering, a popular treatment book with his colleague Darrell Dodge (The Child and Adolescent Stuttering Treatment and Activity Resource Guide), and he annually presents many invited workshops to hundreds of professional clinicians who attend in order to learn more on how to effectively work with children, teens, and adults who stutter

John B. Ellis, M.S., CCC-SLP

John is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences and the Center for Neuroscience at the University of Colorado at Boulder. His doctoral studies focus in the area of stuttering. John is an expert clinician who understands the importance of helping the client change the struggle and tension seen in many who stutter. His understanding of the impact of stuttering comes from personal experience, insight, and training.

Julia Prinzing Unger, M.A., CCC-SLP

Julia Prinzing

Julia has been with Dr. Peter Ramig and Associates since 2005. She is very caring, understanding, and insightful. After completing her undergraduate studies in Germany and the Netherlands, Julia graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Master of Arts in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences. While her focus is the assessment and treatment of stuttering across all ages, she also sees clients for articulation, voice, literacy and language therapy.  Julia is a certified member of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association as well as its Special Interest Division for Fluency and Fluency Disorders.  She is further bilingual English-German speaking and certified to deliver a number of specialized treatment approaches. Specific to the area of fluency, Julia is a trained Lidcombe clinician.  Julia is currently earning her Ph.D. in Speech Pathology and for the time being, will only be available on a consult basis. 

Jer-Aye Gau, M.A., CCC-SLP

Jer-Aye Gau, M.A., CCC-SLP has been with Dr. Peter Ramig and Associates since 2005. She's compassionate, caring and soft-spoken. Jer-Aye earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and a Minor Degree in Statistics from Colorado State University. Jer-Aye went on to earn a Master of Arts in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences from the University of Colorado at Boulder where she studied under Dr. Peter Ramig in the area of stuttering. Jer-Aye has a focus in the assessment and treatment of stuttering. She has attended conferences conducted by the Stuttering Foundation of America and has been trained and certified to treat using the Lidcombe Program. Jer-Aye also assesses and treats individuals that have articulation, voice, literacy, language and AAC needs. She was recently accepted into a graduate program that will allow her to earn additional graduate credits in the area of assistive technology through Assistive Technology Partners at the University of Colorado Denver, School of Medicine.

Gretel Bey, M.A., CCC-SLP

Gretel Bey

Gretel Bey is originally a native of Juneau, Alaska. She came to Boulder in 2001 to attend the University of Colorado, where she graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Speech Language and Hearing Sciences. Gretel has worked for Dr. Ramig since 2004. In addition to treating stuttering across all ages, Gretel is also an experienced clinician specific to the area of pediatric rehabilitation.

Dodge, M.A., CCC-SLP is Dr. Peter Ramig's Associate at the Greenwood Village Speech and Language Clinic.  Mr. Dodge received his speech pathology training at the University of Colorado-Boulder and has provided fluency diagnosis and therapy at the center for over eight years.  A member of the American Speech-Language- Hearing Association and its Special Interest Division 4 (Fluency and Fluency Disorders,) Mr. Dodge is a recovering stutterer who has had personal experience from the client's perspective with many types of stuttering therapy.  He co-authored the book The Child and Adolescent Stuttering Treatment and Activity Resource Guidepicture darrell

Brian Heskin, M.A., CCC-SLP, BRS-FD

Brian Heskin runs the Fort Collins office of Peter Ramig and Associates.  He earned his Masters of Arts degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Northern Colorado.  He has been associated with Peter Ramig and Associates since 1995 specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of fluency disorders.  Brian is a Board Recognized Specialist in Fluency Disorders by Division 4 (Fluency and Fluency Disorders) of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA).  He is a graduate of the Stuttering Therapy Training for Specialists from Northwestern University in 1995.  Additionally, he is trained in the Lidcombe Program, an evidenced based best practices therapy program for early intervention.  Brian is a practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).
